The Gabbai Also Wanted a Blessing
Tzedakah & chesedChildren & shidduchim
The Rebbe was once a guest at someone's home and was served food. When he had finished eating and had said his brachos, he was asked to bless the host, who still had no children. The Rebbe replied that he had thought of him while saying Boreh Nefashos, words that point to the creation of souls. The Rebbe's gabbai then asked for a blessing too, since he also had no children. The Rebbe replied that he had thought of the gabbai at the word rabbos, which means many, in that same bracha.
A year on, one of the two chassidim had a son, and the other a daughter. Eighteen years later the two young people were married to each other, and the bracha of Boreh Nefashos Rabbos was fulfilled.
