Choosing the Right Moshol
A story ofRav Yitzchok Hutnerהרב יצחק בן חיים יואל הוטנרProfile ›
Rav Hutner would recount a moment from his youth with his teacher, Rav Avrohom Grodzensky. The two had been talking pleasantly for a long while. As Rav Hutner rose to go, Rav Grodzensky asked him to stay a little longer, because in the conversation he had mentioned a parable about a lame man.
Rav Grodzensky himself had a defect in his leg. By this hint he taught his talmid that part of mussar is to consider carefully which moshol one selects.
