Teach America’s Children Torah
Emunah & bitachonChildren & shidduchim
Everyone told Rav Elchonon that America was not fit for Torah, but he disagreed. On his travels he had seen many pure Jewish children, pure in some respects even beyond the children of Europe. All that is needed, he said, is someone to teach them Torah, and if people undertake to spread Torah, the children will accept it. At the bar mitzvah of a Torah Vodaath student in Williamsburg he urged that Jewish schools be established where children study Torah with Rashi’s commentary, so that they will be saturated with faith in all the cardinal principles of Judaism, in both the written and the oral Torah.
