Time Is Concentrated
In Denver in 1938, Rav Elchonon told a reporter that the holy books speak of these times, of the coming of Mashiach and the birth of a new and good world, and that there will be suffering and pain in that birth. “It is impossible to predict what will happen to the world in a given space of years; history now is concentrated.” He explained that events move rapidly and that upheaval can come in an instant, overturning conditions that seemed as permanent as a person could make them. A year today, he said, is a century of yesterday. Time is only an idea of man, and he must not rely on it too much, for there is a higher conception of time.
