Hashem’s Wedding Gift
Rav Schorr taught that the Rambam rules that part of the mitzvah of making a chosson and kallah happy is to bring them gifts (Hilchos Avel 14:1). In the Sheva Berachos we call Hashem the One who gladdens chosson and kallah. What gift does Hashem bring them? Rav Schorr said it is mechilah on all their sins, and the ability to start over, which is the greatest gift of all. He called the forgiveness of sins on the wedding day Hashem’s derosha geshank to the chosson and kallah.
