Two Kinds of Yirah
Tefillah
Rav Schorr taught that there are two kinds of yirah. One is calculated and developed through the intellect. The other is more basic and exists naturally, like the yirah found in the Beis HaMikdash, as we say in the tefillah, “and there we will serve You with awe.” The main yirah comes when there is a Divine revelation and, on the strength of what he understands, a person is filled with true yirah.
