The Torah will never be forgotten
When some sages feared that Torah would one day be lost from Israel, Rebbi Shimon bar Yochai rejected the idea outright, citing the promise that the Torah "shall not be forgotten from the mouth of his descendants" (Devarim 31:21). The verses that speak of people searching for the word of Hashem, he explained, mean only that clear, undisputed rulings will be harder to find, not that Torah itself will vanish. It is a statement of deep faith in the eternity of Torah among the Jewish people.
