I Cannot Do That to a Person
Rav Pam refused to have a gabbai or a secretary to manage the many requests for his time. At one point his family decided that he should take one day off from seeing people, just so that he could have a break.
He replied that they were right, but then asked what would happen to the person who needed him that day and could not wait until tomorrow. That person would have lost his chance. “I cannot do that to a person,” he said.
