Now I Can Go Lie Down
Tzedakah & chesedParnassah
A great deal of money passed through Rav Pam’s hands, and he gave it as tzedakah to those he knew were in need. This past Shiva Asar B’Tammuz he had just come home from the hospital, and he was very weak. He said, “We must do gemilus chassodim.”
He sent for an older man from the neighborhood who needed a great deal of chizuk. Rav Pam kissed the man’s hand and gave him a check for $1,800. Then he picked up the phone and asked a talmid for $10,000 for someone he knew who needed it, and the talmid came over immediately with the money. Only after all this was taken care of did he say, “Now I can go lie down.”
