The Scarf from Rav Yechezkel
Children & shidduchim
When his parents called him home in the winter of 5693 (1933) for a shidduch, he left the Mir on a freezing day. Rav Yechezkel Levenstein walked him to the wagon that would carry him to the train.
At the wagon, Rav Yechezkel took off his scarf and held it out. Rav Yehuda Zev hesitated, for he did not want to accept a gift from his teacher. In the end they reached an agreement. Rav Yehuda Zev would wear the scarf for the journey and then post it back to Rav Yechezkel.
