A human being is made of body and soul, so all his activities contain both the material and the spiritual. Everyday routines are usually driven by physical gain, yet the soul inside them asks for recognition, for ordinary affairs to be filled with an awareness of a higher purpose. Giving tzedakah and supporting Torah education for Jewish children are the spiritual motives that ought to drive daily life. Each of us is a microcosm of all creation, and harmony between our soul and our material life is harmony between heaven and earth.
