A teaching ofRav Menachem Mendel Schneersonהרב מנחם מנדל בן לוי יצחק שניאורסון
Jewish tradition sees children as deserving of our greatest investment of time and energy, since they embody purity of intent, sincerity, faith and enthusiasm for life. In America, the Rebbe observed, many parents who had known hardship as immigrants, or as their children, focused on their children's material welfare and careers and left religion and a view of the world for the children to find on their own. However well meant, this fostered a way of life in which principles give way to convenience and old traditions are given up for gain, and it left many young people disillusioned and with an inner void that they do not know how to fill.
